AI & Me Say Truly Spoken Does Not Mean It's True

Over the last 60+ years, I've watched talented organizers stumble for the same reason: they mistook conviction for connection. Many have been startled by their inability to reach and engage more people. History lessons, hopeful visions and stories without a preexisting communication relationship often fall on deaf ears and have ended with incomplete projects. Some organizers have turned what hasn't worked into their reasoning for why they should be supported. It's clear that the pre-existing mutual agreement to communicate is the most essential ingredient in organizing, and not general causes or personal certainty. It's time for more organizing around what's happening according to the lived experience of the affected person in their own words. Historically, we've all been organized by top-down forces treating people as subjects. The inversion is necessary, listen first, lead second. When it comes to organizing individuals, it's more about foundational operating policies than personal conviction. Being right isn't enough; being listened to requires groundwork.
